We moved to Ray in April 1960 where I finished 4th grade with Miss Collins(I arrived on test day). My brother (Luke) was born on Sept. 6th 1960, the day after Kenny Hatfield was born. My best friends growing up in Ray were, Sharon Smoot, Sue Palmer, Merlinda Dodge and Mary Hatfield. My Aunt Mary and Uncle Eddie Baca lived in Ray along with a slew of "Bacas". We would hike and play from dawn to night with out worring about anything except loose convicts or a stray mountain lion here and there. Those were the good ole' days.

Comments: Thanks for this great website. I recently moved to arizona and have become interested in where my great grandfather and grandmother lived, which I believe is the camp they called Barcelona (back around 1913-1925?). My grandmother told me she was born in Ray and that her father worked for the mines. He died very young (I believe he was only 28 years old) she said of black lung disease. When he died her mother was pregnant with her and her twin sister! Her name is Mary Aguilera and her mom and dad were Marina Aguilera and Antonio Aguilera. If anyone has any info about them or that time period, please email me. Thanks!
