SPRING CLEANUP May 14th and 20th

MAY 14TH-CURBSIDE PICKUP

It's time to get into the Spring Cleaning mood with the City of Primghar's Spring Cleanup

This is the 3rd year the City has joined forces with Town and Country Disposal to pickup items placed along the curbside. You are asked to have the items you wish to discard placed at your usual garbage pickup area by 6 a.m. on Friday May 14th.

Conditionally Accepted Spring Cleanup items that WILL be collected:

Items include: furniture, electronics, mattresses and box springs (**$5.00) appliances (**$15.00), household items, small amounts of wood cut into 6 foot or shorter lengths and bundled in 40 lb or lighter bundles, light metal objects such as grills, and other miscellaneous items. Paint cans containing dry paint with the lid removed will also be picked up.

You must contact City Hall by Wednesday, May 12th, and get a tag for all the following:
  • Washing machines
  • Refrigerators
  • Freezers
  • Televisions
  • Clothes dryers
  • Trash compactors
  • Humidifiers
  • Computer monitors
  • Water heaters
  • Stoves
  • Air conditioners
  • Computers/parts
  • Furnaces
  • Microwave ovens
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Furniture
  • Mattresses
  • Box Springs
  • Electronics
***Money is non-refundable

Items NOT collected:

Items NOT allowed for pick-up include all items banned from the Landfill. This includes all tires, chemicals (*see HHM), yard waste, car parts, concrete, scrap metal, etc. Demolition and remodeling debris is also not allowed on clean-up day, but, you may make special arrangements by calling Town and Country at 712-472-2493.

The City of Primghar and Town and Country Disposal have the right to reject any items placed out for collection.

If items are not picked up you will be notified of the reason they cannot be taken and you will be responsible for removing them from the curb and properly disposing of them within three (3) days. Should an item be picked up and you failed to have the proper tag you will be billed for any and all incurring fees.

Rummaging through or removing items placed out for pickup by any person should be done so in a neat and respectable manner.

MAY 20TH-HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS MATERIAL PICKUP

Northwest IA Area Household Hazardous Material (HHM) Facility

to visit Thursday, May 20th

Paint cans containing wet paint in them or you have any other hazardous materials such as Degreasers, Waxes and Polishes, Solvents, Lacquers and Thinners, Caustic Household Cleaners, Spot and Stain Removers, Pesticides and Herbicides or Oil Based Paint can be brought to the HHM trailer on Thursday May 20th from 12-4pm. This will be parked by our Light Plant/City Shop, which is behind the Savings Bank. Or, if you want to get rid of your hazardous materials sooner you may call the HHM Facility for an appointment/information at 712-324-4026. Also, the Traveling trailer is looking for two volunteers to help that afternoon, if interested please call Primghar City Hall at 957-2435.

To make "SPRING CLEANUP 2010" a successful community-wide program,

everyone must cooperate and follow the guidelines listed above.
